Hydraulic Shear used for to cut the rods as per Standard Length (dia of rod x 1.5). The sample should be both sides Parallel, clean and perpendicular to the length. Hydraulic cold upset press used to compress the sample of rod upto 80% (max) reduction for quality checking purpose.

Description

The shear press has a Double acting Cylinder of Stroke Length 50 mm – 55 mm. The Stroke length controlled by two limit switches. Both switches are non-adjustable and factory set. The punch is fitted with the Ram end by suitable mounting holder. Die is mounted on the main base plate by the suitable holders. Cold upset testing is a vital quality control step in wire rod mills used to evaluate a steels ability to undergo severe cold forming (like cold heading) without failing. It ensures the material can withstands extreme deformation without developing dangerous structural cracks, splits or seams.
