Pneumatic Power Tools & Co. was founded in 1975 in Kolkata, India, built on determination, engineering passion, and strong family values.
The company was established by Mr. Ajit Baran Dutta, a mechanical engineering graduate who aspired to build reliable industrial machines. Inspired by his father’s craftsmanship, he began designing and manufacturing tools from scratch, earning the trust of industries through dedication and perseverance.
Throughout this journey, Mrs Sharmila Datta played a vital role in managing the company’s finances and ensuring stability, helping transform a small operation into a growing industrial enterprise that supports over 100 employees and their families.
In 2023, the sudden passing of Mr Dutta was a profound loss. However, his legacy of integrity, innovation, and hard work continues to guide the company.
Today, the next generation carries forward his vision by combining strong engineering heritage with modern technology and global expansion.

1975
Mr. A.B. Dutta, a fresh mechanical engineer, started a company in the name of Pneumatic Power Tools & Company on a small plot of land in Howrah, Kolkata, known as the Sheffield of India.
1980
Develops pneumatic Tensioner and pneumatic Sealer for the steel mills.
1985
Started the second factory in Howrah to manufacture a full range of manual strapping tools.
1990
To meet the increasing demand for PPT products, started the third factory in Howrah to manufacture combination tools.
1996
The fourth factory was built. It is a three storied building in the ground floor we have battery of CNC machines. On the other floors we have the quality control testing and design departments.
2000
Started exporting cutter blades to Germany.
2004
Started exporting strapping tools to Canada, the USA, and European countries.
2013
Started PPT USA in Houston, TX, USA.
2014
Started hydraulic division commercial production at Kasba unit-1, Kolkata.
2018
Automated Wrapping Machine
2023
Family legacy continues, New Expansions into Automation
2025
Established a new Factory at Kasba unit-2, Kolkata with world class manufacturing Equipment’s for Bulk Precision Component. Developed Battery Operated Strapping Tools & Rebar Cutter, as well as Hydraulic Hot Upset Machine.
